Force of Nature Cleaner Review after Six Months

In 2020, Household cleaners were selling out like hotcakes, and on many occasions, my favorite bleach-based brand was sold out, leaving me with lesser options.  My goal is to always safeguard my family from germs and viruses.

Which is the best household cleaner? Which home disinfectant is the safest? After weeks of research, I believe I hit the jackpot! That’s why today, I want to introduce you to my experience with Force of Nature, a disinfectant and cleaning system that can kill 99.9 percent of germs, making it as efficient as bleach (but much safer!)  Force of Nature is free of toxic chemicals, so it’s safe for use around family members of all ages and pets.  In fact, it is safe enough to spray on fruits and vegetables!

Force of Nature is a a powerful household cleaner that is free of harsh chemicals. It is safe arounds kids, pets and even food because the only ingredients of Force of Nature are water, salt and vinegar. When compared to Lysol and Clorox, Force of Nature will save you between $50 and $95 per year.

I’ve used Force of Nature cleaner in my home for over six months.  Now, I can tell you from first-hand experience the good and the bad.  My in-depth review will go over everything you need to know about Force of Nature cleaning solution.  I will try to answer many of the questions you may have along the way, from pricing to usage instructions to where to get product refills. You’re not going to want to miss it!

What Is Force of Nature Cleaner?

Force of Nature is an EPA approved Hypochlorous Acid-based disinfectant, cleaner, deodorizer, and sanitizer that you make at home.  Force of Nature Cleaner can kill 99.9 percent of all bacteria and viruses, including the following:

  • SAR-CoV-2
  • Pseudomonas
  • Influenza A
  • Listeria
  • MRSA
  • Staph
  • Salmonella
  • Norovirus

Force of Nature is free of harsh chemicals that can affect children and adults alike (ingredients are water, salt, and vinegar!). This cleaning product is also made without irritants and allergens. In fact, Force of Nature earned the Cruelty-Free International seal in 2018 along with the Business Partner with Women’s Voices for the Earth award.

The EPA has Force of Nature on its approved virus disinfectants along with products such as Clorox QS or Lysol Bathroom Cleaner.  Unlike Clorox and Lysol, which are hard to find in stores, Force of Nature is readily available.

How does Force of Nature Solution Look and Smell?

The Force of Nature cleaner is a clear liquid with a slightly chlorinated scent like a clean swimming pool.  The smell comes from the vinegar, water, and salt ingredients and how they react when electrolyzed (don’t worry, I’ll get into how this cleaning system works in the next section). The ingredients produce chlorine, hence the smell.  It’s nothing overwhelming, and with no added fragrances or colorings, your whole family won’t mind you using Force of Nature around the house.

How does Force of Nature cleaning solution Work?

The cleaning system that is Force of Nature is comprised of an Electrolyzer and an Activator Capsule.  The Capsule houses vinegar, water, and salt in precise proportion.  Add the Activator Capsule contents to tap water and press the Electrolyzer button, and then the magic starts.

Let’s peel back the curtain a little further and take a closer look.

Producing Electrolyzed Water

The ingredients in Force of Nature are simple household ones, but when they come together with electricity, something extraordinary happens! You get electrolyzed water.

Let’s rewind a bit. To produce electrolyzed water, each Activator Capsule has precise quantities of water, vinegar, and salt.  Salt is comprised of chloride and sodium molecules, and water is hydrogen and oxygen molecules.

Force of Nature Cleaning Solution Ingredients
Force of Nature Cleaning Solution Ingredients

By activating the Force of Nature Electrolyzer, the device begins introducing small amounts of electricity. This is important in breaking down the molecules in the Activator Capsule ingredients. After separating all the molecules, you end up with two new molecules. These are sodium hydroxide and hypochlorous acid.

What Is Sodium Hydroxide?

At room temperature, Sodium hydroxide is a solid with no smell with a crystalline, white appearance. It’s sometimes referred to as lye or caustic soda (one of the main ingredients of soap).  A common cleaner ingredient, sodium hydroxide, is regarded as an industrial cleaning agent, meaning it is heavy-duty stuff.

Due to its semi-corrosive nature, sodium hydroxide can easily dissolve all sorts of unwanted household substances.  These include grime, soap scum, sticky residue, protein deposits, fats, oil, and grease, even in heavy layers.  Usually, you have to mix sodium hydroxide with water, which heats it up and makes it an effective cleaner.

Not so with the Force of Nature cleaner.  Remember, the Electrolyzer provides electricity to the ingredients in the Activator Capsule, and electricity creates heat.  Thus, you get all the benefits of a sodium hydroxide cleaner without the need for extra chemicals. Nice!

What Is Hypochlorous Acid?

The second supermolecule you end up with is hypochlorous acid.  This ingredient is even more effective at cleaning than bleach.  Hypochlorous acid is produced by your white blood cells in the immune system, so it’s gentle enough to go into wound-care products.

Is Hypochlorous Acid Safe as a cleaner?

I know, I know, the word “acid” can be off-putting, but hypochlorous acid is considered a weaker type of acid.  That’s the only area where it’s weak, though. After all, if hypochlorous acid was useless, then why would our immune systems bother to make it to fight off bacteria and viruses?

Produced by our white blood cells, Hypochlorous acid kick-starts an internal process referred to as phagocytosis where our body’s white blood cells ingest and ultimately destroy foreign materials such as bacteria.

Besides keeping us healthy, hypochlorous acid plays a vital role in the immune system’s ability of wound healing. It’s no wonder then that across many medical industries, Hypochlorous acid is a top ingredient, form pet care products to tattoo healing, eye care, and wound care.

How to Use Force of Nature Cleaner System?

Now that you know how the Force of Nature cleaning system works, you’re certainly intrigued. How do you use the system? Is it complicated? Not at all! It’s designed for ease of use, requiring only a few steps.

First, you want to fill up your Electrolyzer with water to the marked level.  Tap water should do, but filtered water is better for the longevity of your device.  Next, take an Activator Capsule, twist off the cap, and squeeze the ingredients into the Electrolyzer.  Your hand will smell like vinegar!

Plug the Electrolyzer into an outlet, and then press the start button (there is only one button). The blue light surrounding your device wills lowly change to green.  Within nine minutes, the electrolyzation process as described in the last section will have completed (you know this because the entire light is now green).  When the process is done, take your Spray Bottle, fill it with the Force of Nature cleaner, and begin deodorizing, disinfecting, and cleaning all over the house.  Note how the vinegar smell has now vanished and turned into the chlorinated scent of a clean swimming pool!

Do I Need to Use Distilled Water to Make Hypochlorous Acid Solution?

Force of Nature can be made with regular tap water.  Distilled water is not necessary.  It’s best if your home or office doesn’t have hard water, which is defined as containing more than 100 particles per million (ppm) of minerals. All those minerals can reduce the lifespan of your Electrolyzer. The best water to use is filtered tap water or bottled water instead.

Can I Mix My Own Salt and Vinegar Capsule Solution?

During my research, I ran across many sites that tell you to add your own salt and vinegar solution rather than buying the premixed capsules.  I would advise against that because while the ingredients are very simple, their ratios and measurements are precise.  If you add just slightly more salt or vinegar, you will ruin the chemistry and lose most of the cleaning solution’s benefits.  I would rather you be safe than save a few pennies.

What Surfaces Can I Clean with Force of Nature?

The better question is which surfaces can’t you clean with? Here’s an extensive overview so you can see the real power of Force of Nature.

The Nursery

Your bundle of joy is your whole world. You only want to use gentle cleaners around your baby, and Force of Nature certainly fits into that category.  Force of Nature cleaning solution can be used all over the nursery.

If those baby toys have gotten a little soiled, Force of Nature can restore the baby toys to their former glory. They’ll be clean, safe, and smell better.  You’re also free to spray the cleaner on a changing pad and that diaper pail that has reeked for a while.

All this, and you can be assured that you’re not flooding the baby’s nursery with harsh chemicals and terrible odors.  Wipe, then allow the solution to dry.  Now your baby can go right on cooing along while you clean his or her nursey to pristine condition.

The Bathroom

You likely have an assortment of cleaners made just for the bathroom, right? The trouble with these products is they’re all very harsh and release fumes that make you sick. You often have to open a window or otherwise aerate the bathroom when cleaning, or you’ll get lightheaded. That’s not the case with Force of Nature.

This gentle cleanser can tackle all those unsightly messes that seem impossible to remove. For example, do you have soap scum in your bathroom? Who doesn’t? This scum can accumulate and seem impossible to remove once it builds up.

Formed from soap and fatty acids, soap scum invites other bacteria into your bathroom, so you want to tackle it as soon as you spot it. Just spray some Force of Nature cleaner on your trusted scrub brush and begin wiping away soap scum.

Cleaning Tip: If you have a nasty build-up, you might need to add a safe yet abrasive product such as baking soda to deeply scrub and remove the soap scum.

The Kitchen

Between cooking, cleanup, and feeding your family, messes tend to appear faster than you can clean to them. More importantly, raw meats can spread dangerous bacteria, such as salmonella, on your countertops.  You’ll quite appreciate having Force of Nature cleaner by your side, as it can remove a broad array of kitchen messes that you typically reserve for those harsh chemical cleaners.

That cutting board of yours can be a breeding ground for bacteria.  Germs settle into all those microscopic crevices which some kitchen cleaners can’t get to.  Now all you have to do is thoroughly mist the cutting board with your Spray Bottle, and Force of Nature will get right to work.

Your baby’s highchair is another area that needs to be cleaned and disinfected.  Force of Nature’s cleaning system is gentle enough that you can forget about any risk of chemical residue or lingering odors on the chair.  Now you can feed your baby in their highchair with greater peace of mind.

Many kitchen surfaces are cleanable with Force of Nature besides the above. These include stainless steel, glass, laminate, wood, quartz, marble, stone, and granite.

Cleaning Tip: Do not allow Force of Nature (or any other cleaning solution) to sit long on wood surfaces.  Leaving liquids, even water, on wood will damage the finish and may bubble or warp the wood surface.

Pet Areas

Do you have furry friends such as cats or dogs at home? They’re some of the household’s messiest members, but you couldn’t imagine not having your pets around.  Fortunately, Force of Nature is very much usable in all pet areas throughout the house.

If your dog had an accident on your favorite white carpet, don’t stress.  Force of Nature suggests spot-testing on one part of the rug before spritzing all over.  You can use this cleaner for removing the pet stains and also a deodorizer.  It will get rid of the smell of the accident too!

Many other parts of the pet area are eligible for cleaning with Force of Nature, including pet bedding, those stinky, saliva-covered plush toys, and even your cat’s litterbox. Yes, that’s right, now kitty can’t contribute to household odors either!

Caution: Be careful with birds and exotic pets as they are very sensitive even to the mildest smells.  Make sure the area is completely dry before letting an exotic pet back. (We have a Cockatiel, and we keep him in the cage while we clean.  We clean his cage only with water)

The Car

Here, Force of Nature Cleaner fell short.  I kept a small spray bottle in my car to disinfect the kids’ hands after shopping.  However, I noticed that the heat and big temperature swings inside the parked car broke down the chemistry.  In just two days, the solution smelled more like vinegar than bleach.

Will Force of Nature Save me Money?

Even when you include the price of the Force of Nature Electrolyzer Appliance, your cost per ounce is very competitive compared to Clorox and Lysol all-purpose cleaners. On year two, Force of Nature Cleaner will save you between $50 and $95 over Clorox and Lysol.

I find that we use more of the Force of Nature solution than we did Lysol or Clorox before. The solution is safer and does not have an overwhelming smell like Clorox, so I use more of it. The big savings are on wipes as we hardly need any since we got the Force of Nature System.

Buying Tip: If you plan to use Force of Nature as a replacement for wipes (as we do in our home), you have to budget in the cost of paper towels.

Do I Need Special Sponges or Scrubs for Force of Nature Solution?

No, when cleaning any or all parts of the house with Force of Nature cleaner, you do not need to invest in new cleaning items. You can use those same old sponges, towels, cloths, and scrubbers you usually rely on.

Where Can I Store Force of Nature Cleaning Solution?

Hypochlorous acid’s shelf life is short (roughly two weeks). After that, it loses its cleaning power.  So you cannot make a few bottles and have them “ready” in a cabinet.  Once you make a bottle, make sure to use it within two weeks, or you will have to throw it out and make a fresh batch.

Also, do not store your Force of Nature bottle near a window or a source of heat.  Heat accelerates chemical reactions and will shorten the shelf-life of your solution.

The spray bottle included with your kit has a place for you to write the date.  Use it so you remember when your solution will expire.  At my home, we go through a bottle a week, so we never had an issue with expiring cleaner.

Is Force of Nature for Households Use Only?

Force of Nature is registered through the EPA for usage in offices, military facilities, salons, spas, health clubs, hotels, restaurants, veterinary facilities, dental clinics, nursing homes, hospitals, and schools.

On top of that, the Electrolyzer’s power cord works in any standard household electrical outlet, including those at your workplace.  Even if you can’t make your Force of Nature cleaner at work, you can always take care of that at home and just take the Spray Bottles with you.

How Do I Order Force of Nature Cleaner?

To get started, visit the Force of Nature website and select whether you’re using the system for household or business use. You can also create an account if you want a friend referral link, you wish to start a subscription, or track your order.

Then add the items you want to your cart and check out. Force of Nature ships to Canada, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and the Continental United States. If you buy a Force of Nature Starter kit, you can get free shipping to any of those locations.

Conclusion

Force of Nature is a cleaning system that electrolyzes the simple everyday ingredients of water, vinegar, and salt.  The result is an EPA approved cleaner backed by the power of sodium hydroxide and hypochlorous acid.

These ingredients are gentle enough that you can use Force of Nature on everything from the baby’s nursery to your pet areas to kitchen countertops.  No matter the surface, Force of Nature is soft on surfaces but tough on grime, grease, sticky messes, bacteria, and viruses.  Force of Nature cleaner smells lightly chlorinated and has no harsh chemicals or odors.

Force of Nature cleaning solution has a relatively short shelf life (two weeks).  Keep it in a cool place and away form heat (do not keep it in a parked car for example.)

In these trying times, you can never be too careful with household (and office) cleanliness. It’s also hard to trust that your local grocery store will have cleaners available at all times.  Force of Nature cleaner could be just what you’re looking for.  It cleans just as well as your favorite household cleaners and costs way less too.  Since May of 2020, Force of Nature is all my family uses for keeping our home clean!

I think Force of Nature is like a diamond in the rough, a disinfecting gem that’s especially needed at a time when cleanliness is at its most paramount.
